Distinguished Visitors from Mayo Clinic

26.02.2010

Leading specialists from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, visited St. Anne's University Hospital from February 21st to 25th, 2010.

Thanks to the long-term cooperation between St. Anne’s University Hospital and Mayo Clinic, St. Anne’s and the Czech Republic have the chance to build a unique center for multidisciplinary simulation in the area of medical education, the first such center in the European Union. Brno would become a center of advanced medical education, part of a network that will be built on all continents according to the standards and designs of the existing center at Mayo Clinic. Europe should have no more than two such centers.

As a part of the preparation for this strategic project, named the "International Center for Advanced Medical Education", St. Anne’s Hospital hosted a US delegation led by Dr. Terrence Cascino, Dean of Mayo College of Medicine, and Dr. William Dune, head physician of Mayo Clinic Simulation Center. The delegation also included Diane Twedell and Jacqueline Arnold, both from  Mayo College, which specializes in education in nursing; Thomas Beld, head IT specialist of Mayo Clinic Simulation Center, and Scot Ramsey, project and technology manager from Mayo Clinic.
