Renting or purchasing – private apartment / house

Renting is the most common option for foreigners working longer-term in the Czech Republic. It’s possible to search for a property to rent or buy with a real estate agency or without and deal directly with the owner. As a citizen of the EU, the USA, or if you have a permanent residence permit or you were granted asylum, you are allowed to buy a house or a flat in the Czech Republic

If you would like to search for a private home to rent or purchase, you can do it online at the following websites:

Foreigners.czReal Estate | Foreigners.cz

Foreigners.cz, as their name indicates, provide a full service for the foreigners coming to the Czech Republic. They can help you not only with the finding of an apartment but also with other services such as immigration, transportation, language translations etc. The prices for the apartments are a bit higher than the usual prices for apartments, however, they will make things much easier for you if you do not speak Czech.

Sreality Sreality.cz • Real estate and property throughout the Czech Republic

Sreality is a website that is most commonly used by the Czech people when searching for an apartment. You can switch the website into English, where you will be able to see the pictures of the apartment and the basic information, however, you will not be able to read the description since it is usually just in Czech. Therefore, we recommend looking at the website in Czech and using the Google translator to translate the whole page for you. Some apartments also have the description in English. The most efficient way to get the apartment is to call the agent straight away and he/she speaks English, book an appointment to see the apartment in person.

BezrealitkyBezrealitky: Sell or rent your property with no commission

Bezrealitky is a website where the owners of the apartments advertise by themselves. There are not as many advertisements as on the other websites, but the major advantage is that you do not have to pay the real estate agent for their services. The usual price for the real estate services is the one-month rent, which you can save in this case.

Short term stays

If you intend to stay in the Czech Republic only for a short period of time, the following websites may help you with finding a hotel, a private room or an apartment:

Airbnb.com

Booking.com

FNUSA dormitories

The hospital owns a dormitory that can offer accommodation for employees if they are not able to find their own accommodation.

Dormitory rules:

It is necessary to book the rooms in advance. There are only double rooms in the dormitory, however, it is possible to book the room just for yourself. The rooms are equipped with beds, wardrobes and desks. The bedding is also available but only for a short-term accommodation. You need to bring/buy your own bedding if you are planning to be accommodated long-term. It is not allowed to use refrigerators, kettles and stoves in the rooms.

There is a shared kitchen on each floor, where everyone has their own food cabinet and dishes/cookware. There is a bathroom with several showers and separate toilets on each floor. You can find a spacious balcony on each floor. It is possible to use the free wi-fi that is available there. You can also use the washing machine and vacuum cleaner for free.
When leaving the dormitory, it is always necessary to hand in the key at the reception (for the fire protection purposes).
