Sim cards
If you are going to stay in the Czech Republic for a longer period, you will probably need a Czech sim card. Not only for your personal calls and messages but also for the Czech bank account, if you will choose to have one. The bank will require you to have a Czech telephone number for online banking verification purposes.
In the Czech Republic we have three basic mobile phone operators:
- Vodafone – https://www.vodafone.cz/en/
- T-Mobile – https://www.t-mobile.cz/osobni (only in the Czech version)
- O2 – https://www.o2.cz/osobni/en/
It is possible to get a monthly plan or a “pay as you go” in all of them. You can buy a sim card in the specified shops (Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile) where they will explain everything and help you to choose the best plan for you. Or you can simply buy a sim card in the tobacco shops/newsstands or some food shops (only the “pay as you go” version).
