FNUSA Becomes a Signatory of the International CoARA Initiative – For Responsible Research Assessment

University Hospital St. Anne’s Brno (FNUSA), together with its International Clinical Research Center (ICRC), is pleased to announce that it has officially joined the CoARA initiative – the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment – as a signatory. In doing so, it reaffirms its commitment to innovative, qualitative, and responsible evaluation of scientific activities that reflects the diverse contributions of modern research.

CoARA is a global coalition of research institutions, funding agencies, evaluation bodies, and other stakeholders seeking to reform traditional methods of assessing research and researchers. Its aim is to promote assessment practices that place greater emphasis on quality, impact, and diverse research outputs, rather than relying solely on quantitative metrics such as publication counts or citation indices.

“FNUSA’s accession to the CoARA initiative reflects our strategic focus on transparent and fair evaluation of research results. We believe that a shift toward assessment approaches that better capture the complex impact of research will strengthen the quality of science and its benefits to society,” said Vice-Dean for Science and Research, Prof. MUDr. Vladimír Šrámek, Ph.D.

CoARA signatories commit to adopting the ten core commitments set out in the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, which establishes a common framework for changing evaluation practices and the gradual implementation of reform measures. Within this framework, each institution subsequently prepares its own action plan outlining how it will put these commitments into practice.

By joining the CoARA initiative, FNUSA becomes part of a growing community of international research organizations that share a common vision of modern research assessment based on qualitative evaluation, with due regard to real-world impact, relevance, and societal benefit.
